Lauren Starkey, MS, LMHCA
Mental Health Therapist
Lauren Starkey, MS, LMHCA is a mental health therapist serving children, young adults, and adults at our Covington, Indiana clinic. She really enjoys the young adult and adult populations and helping them through some of the challenges they face with entering new life stages. She holds a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana State University. Lauren is a CADAC II (Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant.)
Having witnessed the struggles of mental health in those close to her and having navigated her own mental health journey, Lauren understands the difficulties that can arise, particularly when one feels alone. She aims to provide a safe haven for clients to freely explore their experiences, a goal that stems from her awareness that not everyone has such a space. Lauren is deeply passionate about aiding others in addressing their concerns and guiding them towards improving their lives and becoming the individuals they aspire to be.
Lauren is committed to fostering an environment where clients can freely express themselves and feel supported. Lauren explains, “I'm transparent with my clients and am always open to their feedback when it comes to making their experience better. I want to show them that I'm human too and that it's okay to be human.”
Lauren adopts a holistic and personalized approach to meet each client’s unique needs. She employs an Adlerian style of counseling, which emphasizes the importance of feeling accepted and supported by others, while empowering the client to realize the control they have over their life. Depending on her clients’ needs, she also incorporates various CBT and DBT techniques into her counseling.
A dog lover, Lauren has two canine companions of her own. She is an avid reader and a strong advocate for self-care. She is always eager to learn more. Lauren has volunteered at animal shelters and the VA in the past, and her professional experience spans a variety of settings and diverse groups of individuals.
